    that's my brother Larry Merschel on left; KIA at Phouc Yen 5 1 68. Somewhere I read about the "3rd Lt" handle being applied to him. No clue why.

    But, thanks to Charles Cole for shedding some light on a dark day.

    Many hours sitting and waiting at that field. The most vivid memories was of the ARVN bodies being sent out from there -- Summer heat & poorly prepaired bodies

    Carl The photo to the right is not Cpt Murphy. My Company CO with C Company 2/502 who recently passed away. The individual is Gerry Landry, " A" Company Commander, wounded during Air Assult at An Ninh Sept 18th, 1965 , Captian Roe
    "B" Company was also wounded, Also My Company Comander was Killed in Action
    while locating a Enemy Machine Gun position. Also Major Dexter or S-3 and his RTO were killed attacking a enemy positioned dug in on high ground. Also SSG Ranger Faircloth was killed during the assault .
